She holds additional certifications in JourneyDance and Yoga Trance Dance, and completed her Thai Yoga Massage training at Thai Massage Toronto as well as her Indian Head Massage training through Lotus Palm. Nerine has studied with Stephen Jenkinson of Orphan Wisdom School and at Quality of Life Care and is now offering her services as a death doula to those nearing & transitioning through the end of life. She finds freedom & joy through movement and connects deeply with the healing power of dance & ritual.
"Nurtured, yet challenged. That is probably the best way to describe how I felt after my very first class with Nerine several years ago. One class then I was hooked, now I am a ‘regular’ for at least two sessions a week. Even after all these years, each class is different and still pushes me to my edge. I drive 35 minutes each way to Nerine’s class, which is a pleasure because I am truly grateful to have found Nerine."
As a yoga teacher and Thai Yoga Massage practitioner, Meredith Ballaban aims to help people tap into their innate wisdom and ability to heal themselves. Meredith enjoys teaching students of all levels and ages but has a particular interest in pre-and post-natal yoga, which springs from her many years of work as a certified birth doula.
Meredith believes that yoga is for everyone, and aims to co-create connected, safe and meditative experiences. She trained with Shiva Rea in Greece in 2015 and has also studied at The Yoga Sanctuary in Toronto, as well as with various teachers at Kripalu Center in Massachusetts.
Meredith completed her Thai Yoga Massage certification with Lotus Palm in 2017, her Indian Head Massage training through the Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy, and is currently completing her Positional Therapy for pain relief certification with Lee Albert. Meredith is enjoying adding these healing modalities to her work. When she's not teaching yoga, Meredith attends the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton.
"Meredith has been guiding me through non-judgemental yoga for over a year now and I find I can't wait until the next class. Meredith provides me with just the right amount of guidance using her gentle tone and knowledge. A reminder to breathe at the right moments and describing what I might feel in a pose always helps me to be in-tune with my own body. Props as well as eye pillows and blankets offer another level of ease and comfort whether in a restorative class or her Thai Yoga Massage. It's like you've been bathed, body and soul, with care and compassion."
Namaste! My Name is Kriti Taneja and I am a certified Ayurvedic Head Massage Practitioner. In 2014, my family of four (husband + 2 kids) moved from India (Bharat) to Canada. A big move that brought big changes to my experience of motherhood. With mykids so young, my maternal instincts led me straight back to my roots.
Before our big relocation, I’d always looked to my mother and my grandmother and to the values and traditions they inculcated in their kids…and ultimately into me! The love and care held in those values and traditions are alive and well in my heart and home; and there’s one in particular that I’m excited to be sharing beyond my own home and family….. Head Massage! In Bharat it’s commonly known as ‘CHAMPI’, and back home in 90% of households it’s a common routine for Mom to give her kids and family members a Champi on the weekend, and also not forgetting to give a self massage. Kids being kids, we never went along with the weekend tradition without an argument, but I still had a weekly massage and took it for granted. All grown up and with distance from my own mother, I realised how important this regular massage had been all my life. Now, its a vital part of our family’s weekend routine.
When I first moved to this country my heart was still in Bharat. I missed being with my family and also my culture and traditions. And then one day I discovered a certification course for Ayurvedic Head Massage (Shiro (head) Abhyanga(massage) in Sanskrit).
I was so excited to expand on my lifelong experience; and now finally to be able to share this tradition with you.
A combination of Bharat’s Ancestral wisdom, lived tradition, backed and bolstered by formal education. I can’t wait for you to experience the simple luxuries and timeless benefits of this age old tradition for yourself.
