What to Expect

Welcome to Alchemy! Please read through the information below to feel prepared before your first class.

Arrival
Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of class. Classes begin promptly and doors are locked once class time begins to ensure a peaceful experience for all. Please leave outdoor shoes and cell phones outside the yoga space before entering.

What to bring
Yoga: A yoga mat, water bottle, and small towel. We supply blocks, straps, blankets and eye pillows for your convenience. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in; bare feet are recommended. If you have any injuries, please take a moment to let your teacher know before class so that appropriate modifications can be given.

Fitness: indoor athletic shoes (those that provide lateral support and aren't too grippy are ideal), water bottle and small towel. You'll be moving and sweating, so wear comfortable clothing like shorts, yoga or track pants. Please bring a yoga mat.

Thai Yoga Massage: Come in comfortable clothing- long pants such as track or yoga pants, and long-sleeve cotton shirt are recommended. Avoid eating a large meal right before your massage, and drink plenty of water before and after. Socks or barefeet are fine, depending on your comfort. Please remove all jewelry.

Etiquette
Please be aware that classes are in progress and keep voices down while waiting.
For yoga classes, we ask that you help keep the studio a peaceful sanctuary. Please turn off cell phones and keep conversation outside the practice room before, during and after class. Feel free to grab any props (blocks, straps, etc) to keep by your mat. If you need to leave yoga early, please do so before the final savasana (relaxation). Borrowing a mat? Please wipe it down with the spray and cloths provided after class.
Please do not bring food or hot beverages into class space.

I've never done fitness/yoga before... will it be OK?
Our teachers are experts in making you feel comfortable and at home your first (and 100th!) time out. Classes are inclusive and modifications are given for exercises so you can go at your own pace. Students are always encouraged to follow the wisdom of their own bodies on every given day; there is never any pressure to do a pose or exercise you don't feel ready for. Our teachers will never touch you during class without your permission.
Our studios space is designed to enhance your experience. There are no mirrors, and we keep the space low-lit so you can be in your own experience.

Payment Information
We accept payment by cash, cheque or e-transfer (please make cheques out to Nerine Christie or Meredith Ballaban). NSF fee for cheques is $30. Payment should be completed before class begins; if you are staying for more than one class, please pay for both when signing in. Punch cards can be kept with us in the boxes. All punch cards expire 6 months after purchase. Memberships & cards are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Pre-registered sessions: Payment is due upon registration. If you withdraw from a pre-registered session 24 hours or less before the start of the session, you will be charged a non-refundable $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given for sessions after they have started.
